It is organised by the <a href=\"http:\/\/gretha.u-bordeaux.fr\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>GREThA<\/strong><\/a> (Theoretical and Applied Economics Research Group), UMR CNRS 5113 of the\u2019<strong>University of Bordeau<\/strong>x.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discover the programme<\/strong> : <a href=\"https:\/\/jma2018.sciencesconf.org\/program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/jma2018.sciencesconf.org\/program<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The <strong>researchers from the Economics of Defence Chair<\/strong> present their work at the JMA: a first article on arms transfers and a second on monetary illusion.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Summaries of this work<\/span>:<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span class=\"title\">Trading arms with the enemy: An approach based on guns versus butter models<\/span> <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This article, co-written by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Julien_Malizard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Julien Malizard<\/strong><\/a> (researcher at the Chair in Defence Economics) and <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/antpietri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Antoine Pietri<\/strong><\/a> (IRSEM), aims to <strong>theoretically explore arms transfers<\/strong>. The model pits two \u00abrivals\u00bb against each other in the <strong>butter and banana\u00ab dilemma\u00bb<\/strong> The production of guns provides an increase in security, but at the expense of \u00abbutter\u00bb. In the model, the gun can be used both to protect the producer and for arms transfers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">From a formal point of view, the <strong>three-stage model<\/strong> the choice of <strong>quantity of weapons transferred<\/strong>, the <strong>arms production<\/strong> and finally the <strong>production value<\/strong>. Contrary to previous work, we show that there are <strong>conditions for mutually beneficial arms transfers<\/strong>. This theoretical result <strong>illustrates certain historical facts<\/strong>s: the arms trade between the UK and Germany on the eve of the 1st World War, or the (aborted) sale of the \u00abMistral\u00bb ships from France to Russia.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"gmail_default\"><strong>Money illusion, financial literacy and numeracy: experimental evidence<\/strong><\/h4>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Elisa_Darriet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elisa Darriet<\/a>,<\/strong> Post-doctoral researcher at the Chair in Defence Economics presents an article co-authored with <strong>Marianne Guille<\/strong> (LEMMA, Paris 2 and <span lang=\"FR\">Labex MME-DII)<\/span>,\u00a0 <strong>Jean-Christophe Vergnaud<\/strong> (<span lang=\"FR\">CES, University Paris 1) and <\/span><strong>Mariko Shimizu<\/strong> (LEMMA, Paris 2). L\u2019<strong>money illusion<\/strong> is generally defined as the inability of individuals to take proper account of inflation or deflation when making financial decisions. . <strong>Individuals are no longer rational<\/strong> as defined by economic theory.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\" style=\"text-align: justify\">In this article, we analyse <strong>monetary illusion at individual level<\/strong> and study its relationship with <strong>numeracy and financial knowledge<\/strong>. We offer a <strong>original and precise measurement<\/strong> via an experimental task and analyse the effects of financial knowledge and calculation skills.
