Visit <strong>chapters 1 and 2<\/strong> of the thesis deal in particular with questions of<strong>\u2018he impact of defence activities<\/strong> (economic, social, spatial planning) on the territories and of the <strong>territorial reorganisations<\/strong> defence.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">2014<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Josselin Droff<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Julien_Malizard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Julien Malizard<\/strong><\/a>, researchers at the Defence Economics Chair have published an article entitled \u00ab\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cairn.info\/revue-d-economie-regionale-et-urbaine-2014-1-page-63.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rationalisation <em>versus <\/em>History of the geographical organisation of defence in France<\/a>\u00a0\u00bbin the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reru.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Journal of Regional and Urban Economics <\/em><\/a><em>(RERU).<\/em><\/strong> The article highlights a<strong> play of forces<\/strong> between concentration and geographical dispersion. On the one hand, recent trends in the\u2019<strong>organisation of the armed forces<\/strong> show a logic of <strong>economic rationalisation<\/strong> and geographical concentration. On the other hand, the dispersed spatial configuration of defence, a legacy of <strong>several centuries of history<\/strong>, is a major factor in restructuring. This interplay of forces can be illuminated by the concept of <strong>\u00abregression cost\u00bb<\/strong>. The article then provides a general overview of <strong>social and territorial costs<\/strong> associated with defence rationalisation.<\/p>\n<h4>2015<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Josselin Droff<\/strong>, a researcher at the Economics of Defence Chair and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paloyo.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Alfredo Paloyo<\/strong><\/a> (University of Wollongong, Australia) have published an article entitled \u00ab\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1111\/joes.12062\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assessing the regional economic impact of defence activities: a survey of methods<\/a>\u00a0\u00bbin the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/journal\/14676419\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Journal of Economic Surve<\/strong><strong>y<\/strong><\/a><strong>s. <\/strong><\/em>The article proposes a <strong>literature review<\/strong> in economics on issues relating to the evaluation of <strong>economic impact of defence activities<\/strong> in their regional environment. In particular, it stresses the need to <strong>go beyond assessments that are purely confined to a given area<\/strong> (monographs, studies with methodologies <em>ad hoc<\/em>) to move towards <strong>econometric studies<\/strong> with a more general scope. <em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\">2017<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Josselin Droff<\/strong> and <strong>Julien Malizard,<\/strong> in \u00ab\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.defnat.fr\/bibliotheque\/resultats_auteur.php?cenvoi=1&amp;cidaut=4585&amp;cauteur=%27Julien%20Malizard%27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The place and structuring role of defence industries in the reorganisation of France's military map<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb <em>(<strong>National Defence Review<\/strong>), <\/em>are interested in the issue of<strong> role played by the defence industries<\/strong> in areas that have undergone major restructuring of the armed forces following the 2008 reform. They show that in the restructuring aid schemes set up by the Ministry of the Armed Forces, initiatives aimed at supporting the\u2019<strong>private offer<\/strong> and in particular business start-ups.
