Innovation in Defence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La Chair in Defence Economics<\/strong> organised the Research, Innovation and Defence conference<\/a><\/strong>, this Wednesday 20 March 2019<\/strong> to the\u2019National Assembly<\/strong>. The event brought together nearly 200 people<\/strong>, around two round tables<\/strong> for quality exchanges<\/strong> on innovation in Defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MP Didier Baich\u00e8re<\/strong> gave a keynote speech underlining the importance of the\u2019importance of the theme<\/strong> the conference for the Ministry of the Armed Forces, as well as for the work it is carrying out as part of the Defence Industry Study Group.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olivier Martin<\/strong>, The Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Chair in Defence Economics then presented the work of the Chair in terms of academic production<\/strong> but also\u2019interface<\/strong> between the world of research, public authorities and the defence industry (for consult the scientific report<\/strong> from the pulpit, click here<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then Emmanuel Chiva<\/strong>, In his introduction, the Director of AID (Defence Innovation Agency) set out the context of creation of AID <\/strong>but also the need to creating an environment conducive to innovation<\/strong> Defence, in involving all stakeholders<\/strong>, particularly those in the civilian sector. In this sense, the IDA must serve as a bridge to enable military personnel to retain a sense of belonging to the community. operational superiority<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round table 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La first round table<\/strong>, on the theme of\u00ab\u00a0How can innovation be developed effectively?<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bbwas hosted by Jean Belin<\/strong>, holder of the Chair in Defence Economics, with the participation of the\u2019IGA Fran\u00e7ois Mestre<\/strong> (Direction G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l'Armement), St\u00e9phane Cueille <\/strong>(Safran), Fran\u00e7ois Chopard<\/strong> (Starburst), Emmanuel Sabonnadi\u00e8re<\/strong> (French Atomic Energy Commission).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A speech by Pierre Delsaux<\/strong> (European Union) presented the challenges facing the European Union in the building tomorrow's defence<\/strong>. In particular, he addressed the issue of cost of \u00abnon-Defence Europe\u00bb <\/strong>and stressed the importance of European cooperation <\/strong>to deal with challenges of tomorrow in the Defence of Europe,<\/strong> in particular thanks to new budgetary resources from 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round table 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La second round table<\/strong>, dedicated to \u00ab\u00a0How can innovation be used effectively in the Defence system?<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bbwas hosted by Val\u00e9rie M\u00e9rindol<\/strong>, professor at Paris Business School, with the participation of General Philippe Hirtzig<\/strong> (EMA), the\u2019IGA Fran\u00e7ois Pintart<\/strong> (DGA), Eric Papin<\/strong> (naval Group) and Dominique Levent<\/strong> (Renault Group).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florence Parly<\/strong>, Minister for the Armed Forces<\/strong> closed the event by presenting the Defence Economics Prize<\/strong> \u00e0 Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Meunier<\/strong>, for his doctoral thesis in economics entitled: \u00ab\u00a0Dual technological innovation: an analysis in terms of influence and coherence<\/a>\u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
