A high-level international conference<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La Chair in Defence Economics<\/strong> was represented at the 23rd Economics and Security Conference<\/strong><\/a> which took place in Madrid (Instituto Guti\u00e9rrez Mellado<\/em>) from 26 to 28 June 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year's event was organised by Carlos Mart\u00ed Sempere<\/strong> (Instituto Guti\u00e9rrez Mellado<\/em>), Paul Dunne<\/strong> (University of Cape Town<\/em>) and Antonio Fonfr\u00eda Mesa<\/strong> (Universidad Complutense de Madrid<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sixty articles <\/strong>were presented on the two days<\/strong>. The quality exchanges <\/strong>have brought together specialists from all over the world <\/strong>(United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Spain, Germany, Greece, South Africa, Sweden, Brazil, China, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From more than 20 years<\/strong>, this annual international conference<\/strong> provides an opportunity for economists, political scientists and researchers from other disciplines from all over the world to present their work in the field of\u2019defence, security and peace economics <\/strong>(for more information on past editions of this conference, click here<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For several years now, the researchers from the Economics of Defence Chair<\/strong> are taking part in this conference, which cover different research themes<\/strong> in defence and security economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contribution of the Chair: the sustainability of external operations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Josselin Droff<\/a><\/strong> <\/a>and Julien Malizard<\/a> <\/strong>presented a paper on sustainability of external operations<\/strong> in which France has been engaged since the late 1990s. The work follows on from an article published in 2018 in The Champs de Mars<\/strong><\/em> (to see the article, click here<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
