{"id":2503,"date":"2020-11-20T12:38:01","date_gmt":"2020-11-20T12:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/?p=2503"},"modified":"2023-03-17T09:56:46","modified_gmt":"2023-03-17T09:56:46","slug":"participation-chaire-economie-defense-copda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/en\/participation-chaire-economie-defense-copda\/","title":{"rendered":"Participation of Jean Belin, Josselin Droff and Julien Malizard in the CoPDA"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2504\" src=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-1-1024x613.png\" alt=\"La Chaire \u00c9conomie de d\u00e9fense - IHEDN a particip\u00e9 au CopDa, organis\u00e9 par la Chaire D\u00e9fense &amp; A\u00e9rospatial.\" width=\"1024\" height=\"613\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chair spoke on Wednesday 18 November 2020 at the CoPDA (Cours de Perfectionnement D\u00e9fense et A\u00e9rospatial), organised online by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespobordeaux.fr\/fr\/l-institut\/notre-ecole\/les-chaires-d-enseignement-et-de-recherche-1\/chaire-defense-aerospatial.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Defence &amp; Aerospace Chair<\/a>, led by General (2S) Laurent.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event provided an opportunity to present <a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/en\/economie-de-defense-problematiques-contemporaines-la-chaire-au-centre-du-numero-dete-de-la-rdn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the work of the members of the Chair<\/a> to an audience of auditors representing manufacturers in the defence sector.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jean Belin<\/strong>, Chairholder, presented a\u00a0<strong>overview of France's defence technological and industrial base (DTIB)<\/strong>\u00a0emphasising the methodological difficulties involved in<strong>\u00a0its definition and measurement<\/strong>. On the basis of its work, it also addressed the following issues\u00a0<strong>specific characteristics of defence companies<\/strong>\u00a0when compared with companies in the civilian sector. The problems of\u00a0<strong>financing defence companies<\/strong>\u00a0were also presented, with a view to\u00a0<strong>technological and financial change<\/strong> of the global economy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Josselin Droff<\/strong>, a researcher at the Chair, presented the<strong>\u00a0the economic challenges of Maintaining Operational Readiness (MCO)<\/strong>\u00a0defence equipment. The presentation was based on the author's various works on the subject, including a discussion on the issue of\u00a0<strong>changes in equipment costs and availability.<\/strong> The main\u00a0<strong>drivers of costs<\/strong>\u00a0were presented, as well as<strong>\u00a0various levers for action<\/strong>\u00a0put in place by the government and industry in an attempt to reduce costs and\/or improve availability. By relying on<a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/en\/mco-4-0-nouvelles-technologies-et-maintien-en-condition-operationnelle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> a recent study by the author<\/a>, the question of\u00a0<strong>technological revolution\u00a0<\/strong>in the MCO was presented (connected objects, 3D printing, augmented reality and virtual reality, robots and cobots).<br \/><strong><br \/>Julien Malizard<\/strong>, Deputy Chairholder, presented the issues at stake in the Chair.<strong>\u00a0the economic impact of defence activities<\/strong>, In this context, the focus is on the link between macroeconomic impact, regional impact and the technological impact on businesses.
