Julien Malizard<\/strong>, Deputy holder<\/a> of the Chair, is the author of a chapter entitled \u00abThe fight against terrorism: an economic perspective\u00bb in the 2021 edition of the Annuaire fran\u00e7ais des relations internationales (AFRI). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Published each year by the Thucydides Centre<\/a><\/strong> AFRI, which is part of the Universit\u00e9 Panth\u00e9on-Assas, brings together specialists, academics and researchers, diplomats and other experts in a multidisciplinary spirit to study international relations in all their dimensions: political, strategic, economic, cultural, technological, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to data from the Global Terrorism Database (GTD), the cost of terrorist attacks since 2000 amounts to 855 billion dollars<\/strong>. This figure, although not very precise and open to criticism, shows that terrorism has major economic consequences. Logically, the fight against terrorism aims to limit these costs<\/strong>, In other words, it is possible to apply a \u00abproactive\u00bb or \u00abpassive\u00bb approach to a given situation. <\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0cost-benefit<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bbThis article begins by looking at the \u00abbenefits\u00bb of these policies, i.e. the costs avoided in economic terms. In this article, Julien Malizard first looks at the 'benefits' of these policies, i.e. the costs avoided in economic terms, followed by an analysis of examples of the solutions envisaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
