Jade Guiberteau Ricard presented the results of research into the development of fleets in eight European countries (France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway) between 1991-1992 and 2021-2022, using an original database.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, she highlighted a <strong>the paradox between long-term industrial production under pressure and short-term operational needs<\/strong> in a changing strategic context.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For large surface ships in the eight countries considered, there was an attrition of 69.8% in the fleets, accompanied by an increase in the average age of the ships.<\/li>\n<li>From an industrial point of view, we can look at the production time indicator (from the time the ships are laid up to the time they are admitted to active service), which highlights capacity considerations in a context where there is a political will to speed up production.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A multi-level econometric model highlights the importance of the\u2019<strong>existence of learning effects<\/strong> on the fleets considered for the period 2021-2022.
