It brought together around fifty participants: representatives from the academic world, public decision-makers and managers of start-ups based in the Paris region. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ip-paris.fr\/thematiques\/campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IPP) campus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/journee-innovation-2023.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/journee-innovation-2023.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1916\" height=\"1077\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Organised jointly by the\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ensta-paris.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ENSTA Paristech<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ip-paris.fr\/recherche\/centres-interdisciplinaires\/cieds-centre-interdisciplinaire-detudes-pour-la-defense-et-la-securite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS)<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/rri.univ-littoral.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Innovation Research Network (RRI)<\/a>, l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecole-air-espace.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Air and Space School<\/a>, l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irsem.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Strategic Research Institute of the \u00c9cole Militaire (IRSEM)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chair in Defence Economics - IHEDN<\/a>, This day of debates was devoted to the theme of <strong>innovation in the defence industries against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The aim was to discuss <strong>specific features of the defence sector<\/strong> (product complexity, length of production cycles, specialisation of the value chain, etc.) in the light of international risks, and also to gain a better grasp of the risks involved. <strong>links with the civil sphere<\/strong>, This is particularly true when it comes to issues of technological sovereignty.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7968\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7968\" style=\"width: 696px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-scaled.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7968 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-1024x624.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-1024x624.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-768x468.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-1536x935.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-2048x1247.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-696x424.jpg 696w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-1392x848.jpg 1392w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-1068x650.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-1920x1169.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-690x420.jpg 690w, https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI2023-DSC_0036-1379x840.jpg 1379w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7968\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Julien Malizard, 2023 RRI Innovation Day<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Chair's team has been involved on three occasions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Julien Malizard<\/strong>, Deputy Chair, gave the keynote address. <strong>inaugural conference<\/strong> alongside IGA Nicolas Cordier-Lallouet, deputy director of the\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gouv.fr\/aid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Defence Innovation Agency (DIA)<\/a>. His presentation consisted of putting the academic literature in economics on innovation issues into perspective. His presentation was structured around three points:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>La <strong>justification for innovation<\/strong> in the field of defence (with the quantity-quality dilemma); ;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>resources devoted to defence innovation<\/strong> (state support in a context of a massive increase in innovation from the private sector); ;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>economic impact of defence innovation<\/strong> (macroeconomic spin-offs and technology dissemination).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Jean Belin<\/strong>, Chair, moderated the round-table discussion on <strong>innovation ecosystems<\/strong>, during which Beno\u00eet Rademacher, Deputy Director of IRSEM, presented the study co-authored with <strong>Josselin Droff<\/strong>, Researcher at the Chair dedicated to the\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/en\/mco-4-0-nouvelles-technologies-et-maintien-en-condition-operationnelle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">application of industry 4.0 technologies in the field of operational maintenance<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jean Belin<\/strong> then presented the work of the Chair during the workshop devoted to SHS research programmes in defence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/JI-Programme.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"td_btn td_btn_md td_default_btn\">detailed programme for the day<\/span><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La Journ\u00e9e innovation 2023 RRI a eu lieu le jeudi 7 juin 2023 \u00e0 l&rsquo;ENSTA Paristech (Palaiseau).
