{"id":980,"date":"2017-04-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-04-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/remise-des-prix-scientifiques-de-lihedn-2017\/"},"modified":"2020-04-09T13:09:30","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T13:09:30","slug":"remise-des-prix-scientifiques-de-lihedn-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/en\/remise-des-prix-scientifiques-de-lihedn-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of the IHEDN scientific awards 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lieutenant General Bernard De Courr\u00e8ges d'Ustou, Director of the IHEDN, awarded the IHEDN scientific prizes to the winners at an official ceremony on 19 April 2017, in the presence of Jean Belin, holder of the Defence Economics Chair and member of the jury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteleft\">The scientific prizes awarded by the Institut des hautes \u00e9tudes de d\u00e9fense nationale (IHEDN) are designed to highlight research into defence, security, international relations, foreign policy, armaments and defence economics.<\/p>\n<p>They also foster links between IHEDN and the academic world.<\/p>\n<p>Created in 1998, the awards are presented each year to researchers at Masters II and PhD level whose work, defended during the year, advances knowledge in the humanities and social sciences. Nominations are examined by a jury made up of academics and qualified personalities appointed by the Director of the IHEDN.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/prix-ihedn-2017.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5525 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ecodef-ihedn.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/prix-ihedn-2017.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"487\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>IHEDN Scientific Awards 2017:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Thesis prize<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Third prizes ex aequo <\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Mrs Alice Pannier<\/strong><br \/>\nFor the third prize for his political science thesis entitled \u00abFranco-British defence cooperation under the Lancaster House Treaties (2010): Institutionalisation meets the challenges of bilateral cooperation\u00bb, defended at Sciences Po Paris, under the supervision of Professor Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Ramel and Professor William Philipott.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Madam Marie des Neiges Ruffo from Calabria<\/strong><br \/>\nFor obtaining the third prize for her dissertation in philosophy entitled \u00abEthical problems raised by the replacement of humans by robots. The case of autonomous weapons systems\u00bb, defended at the University of Paris IV Sorbonne, under the supervision of Professor Jean-Michel Besnier and Professor Dominique Lambert.<\/p>\n<p><em>Second prize<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Ms Namie Di Razza <\/strong><br \/>\nFor winning the second prize for his political science thesis entitled \u00abLa protection des civils par les op\u00e9rations de maintien de la paix de l'ONU : le cas de la MONUC\/MONUSCO en R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo (1999-2005)\u00bb, defended at Sciences Po Paris, under the supervision of Professor Jacques Semelin.<\/p>\n<p><em>First prize<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Ms Am\u00e9lie Zima<\/strong><br \/>\nFor winning the first prize for her dissertation in political science entitled \u00abPenser le changement en relations internationales: le cas du premier \u00e9largissement post-guerre froide de l'OTAN (1989-1999)\u00bb (Thinking about change in international relations: the case of NATO's first post-Cold War enlargement (1989-1999)), defended at the Universit\u00e9 Paris Ouest Nanterre la D\u00e9fense, under the supervision of Georges Mink, Emeritus Director of Research at the CNRS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Master 2 research dissertation prize <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Third prize <\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Mrs Elena Lysak <\/strong><br \/>\nFor the third prize for her Master 2 research dissertation, as part of her sociology dissertation entitled \u00abFemme de militaire : M\u00e8re de famille ou Soldat sans contrat ?\u00bb, defended at the Ecole des Hautes \u00e9tudes en sciences sociales, under the supervision of Christelle Avril, Associate Professor.<\/p>\n<p><em>Second prize <\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Lieutenant Corentin Pfortner <\/strong><br \/>\nFor the second prize in the Master 2 research dissertation category, for his history dissertation entitled \u00abLa mission diplomatique et militaire fran\u00e7aise pr\u00e8s la Cour de Vienne lors de la Guerre de Sept Ans\u00bb (1756-1763), defended at Paris I Panth\u00e9on-Sorbonne, under the supervision of Professor Herv\u00e9 Dr\u00e9villon.<\/p>\n<p><em>First prize <\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Mr Alfred Amiot<\/strong><br \/>\nFor first prize in the Master 2 research dissertation category, for his history dissertation entitled \u00abOccupation? Apartheid, Clash of Civilisations?
