Increase in military spending: Julien Malizard speaks out in the magazine Pour l'Éco

Against a backdrop of heightened geopolitical tensions, military spending have reached record levels in recent years.

Julien Malizard, deputy holder of the Chair, explains to the magazine For Eco the dynamics of military spending and the composition of defence budgets.

For 2020, the magazine quotes SIPRI as forecasting an increase of 5.1 % in military spending in Africa, 4 % in Europe, 3.9 % in the Americas and 2.5 % in Asia/Oceania compared with the previous year.

A general increase, which can be explained primarily by strategic reasons.
