Josselin Droff, researcher at the Chair in Defence Economics spoke at the 114th «IHEDN-Youth» session», on Tuesday 9 July 2019 at the École des Transmissions in Cesson-Sévigné (Rennes).
For over 30 years, l’IHEDN is setting up specific training for the attention of young students or working people, aged between twenty and thirty. The aim of these sessions is to raise awareness of the major issues and challenges facing national defence and security.
The intervention of Josselin Droff was entitled« France's DTIB between economic and strategic challenges« . The aim was to present the main characteristics of the Defence Technological and Industrial Base (DTIB) via a division into three geographical levels.
Visit national level (1) with a presentation of the main characteristics of the DTIB (jobs, nature of activities, innovation and R&D) and the main challenges in economic and strategic terms (national sovereignty, strategic autonomy). At sub-national level (2) with a presentation of defence industry activities at regional level and the challenges in terms of structuring the regional economic fabric. Visit international level (3) Finally, there will be a discussion on the role of arms exports in the DTIB's economic model.

This presentation was largely based on the publications of the Chair in Defence Economics as well as numerous works in which the Chair is involved since its creation in 2013.
