Back cover :

Little is known about the French defence industry. Yet it occupies an important place in the production system, and the major defence industrial groups have played a major role in the technology policy pursued since the late 1950s. It remains one of France's flagships on international markets, at a time when the worrying decline in its manufacturing industry is becoming a topic of debate in public policy.

In the geo-economic context that has prevailed since the early 2000s, the challenges of national security open up major prospects for defence groups, which can find a «growth relay».

The prospects and limits of international cooperation, as well as the volume of arms exports and the specific conditions under which they are implemented, are also analysed.

This book is intended to contribute to the necessary reflection on the place of the defence industry in the French economy.
