Le 15th March 2019, to Rencontres Économiques de la Défense (RED), Damien Coadour, research professor at the’ENSTA Bretagne will present an article entitled: « Technology transfer and risk of knowledge leakage linked to training activities: an assessment in the context of sovereign industries« .
This article, written in collaboration with Josselin Droff, a researcher at the Chair in Defence Economics, and Renaud Bellais was published in the magazine International Management under the original title: « Technology Transfer and Risks of Knowledge Leakages Through Training Activities: An Assessment in Sovereign Industries« .
- The article assesses the risks of knowledge leakage associated training as part of the technology transfers of sovereignty (e.g. energy, transport, defence). Today, governments want to master sovereignty technologies, which means acquiring the necessary knowledge. As a result, exporting companies have adapted their offers to meet customer demands and therefore provide training.
- After collecting the perception of trainers involved in these contracts, the authors propose a typology of trainers and their typical behaviour in different professional situations.
- The study shows a highly differentiated representation of risk of knowledge leakage according to the different categories of trainers (1) as well as a overconfidence in relation to upstream control systems (contract in particular) (2).
- The results allow the authors to suggest ways of improving training systems to mitigate and/or improve control knowledge leakage as part of technology transfers.
