The University of Bordeaux is now one of 5 prize-winning universities of the first labelling phase «centre of excellence» at strategic defence research. The Université de Bordeaux's application and its project Defense and Peace Bordeaux School (DPBS) was selected from among 19 projects submitted.
Through this project, co-sponsored by Jean Belin, holder of the Chair in Defence Economics (in collaboration with Anne-Marie Tournepiche and Sébastien Laurent, As a result, the University of Bordeaux is a recognised player in the field of strategic and defence studies.
On the academic training, the project Defense and Peace Bordeaux School will offer a specific «defence» training» (Masters and PhD). In terms of research, It combines two complementary themes: Industry and defence budgete and Conflicts and new forms of confrontation. Its thematic positioning and research activity (see the scientific assessment of the chair), the Chair in Defence Economics is contributing to the debate on these two issues.
The project aims to decompartmentalising these two themes to propose a line of research linking the defence system (industry, budget, armed forces) with the’intensity and characteristics of the armed conflict.
