Julien Malizard , a researcher at the Chair in Defence Economics, spoke about Tuesday 11 June during the IRSEM doctoral students' study day, devoted to the methodology of strategic research. The title of the presentation was« The tools of economics applied to defence and international security issues » (download the presentation).
- Le first panel, centred on the creation of a scientific corpus, provided an opportunity to discuss the specific features of the defence economy, a little-studied discipline among strategic studies: the’lack of measurement of the safety concept and limitations of existing data. Published work in defence economics therefore focuses on the economic effects alone.
- Two examples linked to work that has been published or is in the process of being published illustrate the value of the economic approach, as well as its limitations.
