Researchers from the Chair of Defence Economics - IHEDN took part in the CEMS Air «Defence Economics» round table.

Josselin Droff, researcher at the Chair, and Julien Malizard, the Chair's deputy holder, spoke on Friday 12 March 2021 at the CESM (Centre d'Etude Stratégique de la Marine) at a CEMS Air round table (Centre d'Enseignement Militaire Supérieur) dedicated to the’defence economics and the challenges of Defence Industrial and Technological Base (BITD).
The researchers discussed economic impact and spin-offs linked to the existence of a DTIB. The issues at’national and regional were discussed (income and job multipliers, long-term impact on innovation and the industrial fabric) as well as international issues through the theme of arms exports. The round table also discussed’methodological elements on the construction of defence budgets, the measurement of jobs, available sources and the possibilities of international comparisons.

In order to enrich the discussion with the audience, the researchers of the Chair of Defence Economics - IHEDN were accompanied by the’Admiral Hervé de Bonnaventure, Defence Advisor to the CEO of MBDA and of Pascal Vimard, Director of Strategic Information at Thales.
