Julien Malizard spoke to the FRS about the increase in defence spending in Europe, particularly since 2014 with the start of the conflict in Crimea.
Organised on 22 May 2023 by Hélène Masson, a senior researcher in charge of the Defence&Industries division of the FRS, videoconferencing «Europe's rearmament: budgetary and capability issues» brought together a number of speakers, including Julien Malizard.
He addressed the issue of’increase in defence spending in Europe over the last decade, He went on to define the war economy. He then put the situation in other areas into perspective. Finally, he addressed the challenges ahead in terms of defence investment in a context of inflation and rising public debt.
