Julien Malizard, a researcher at the Chair of Defence Economics, spoke at the AEGES conference on Wednesday 5 December at the AEGES annual conference (Association for the Study of War and Strategy) which was held on 5 and 6 December 2018, on the grounds of the’Catholic University of Lille. The theme of this year's conference was: « Winning the war or winning the peace?« .
Julien Malizard took part in the panel « Seeking funding to support strategic research« , hosted by Lucie Béraud-Sudreau (IISS) with speakers including Jean-Pierre Maulny (IRIS) and Matthieu Damian (GRIP).
This panel was an opportunity to present the funding strategic research outside the academic circuit. Julien Malizard studied the Defence Economics Chair model its method of financing linked to the industrial sponsorship defence, its activities than a traditional research centre, and the desire to serve a wider public. a more general understanding of defence issues than the traditional readership of peer-reviewed journals.
