Around the special issue:

  • La France has a a relatively original defence policy among Western countries: for Fontanel and Hébert (1997), we can even talk about «politics of grandeur». The defence has a significant economic weight, both in terms of macroeconomic (with a large defence budget) than at the national level. microeconomic (and industrial in particular). However, despite these specific features, the case of France has been little studied by French researchers.
  • This special issue is an opportunity to promote defence economics studies among the members of the academic community. These include diversity of profiles of contributors (doctoral students, young PhDs, specialists in the field but also researchers from other fields of research) as well as the a wide range of subjects and approaches.
