Julien Malizard, Josselin Droff and Jade Guiberteau contributed to the first edition of the Year of National Defence (ADN), published in November 2023 by Documentation française.
The resurgence of high-intensity warfare in Europe and the weakening of both Western economies and democracies have brought defence concerns back to the fore.
This annual publication, which is destined to become a reference on defence and security issues, provides a perspective on the major events of the day, both nationally and internationally, based on analyses by leading specialists in the fields covered.
Each contribution proposes :
-
Setting the scene
-
An analysis
-
Looking ahead
-
A reference document (extract from a founding speech, map, etc.)
Julien Malizard, Josselin Droff and Jade Guiberteau publish a analysis of the report to parliament 2022 on French arms exports.
This collective article is structured around two main points.
- The first is to present all the indicators used to measure arms exports in the report to Parliament: licences granted, orders taken and deliveries. Each indicator has its advantages and disadvantages, so a cross-referenced approach is useful.
- The second point is an analysis of recent trends: arms exports depend on major contracts (e.g. Rafale or submarines) and are mainly concentrated in a few countries in the Middle East (around 40 %) and Asia (close to 25 %).
